Built on a $2.1M+ mining electrification research program

Electrify your haul fleet.
Prove the numbers.

MOVE sizes the onboard battery, places and rates the chargers, and simulates the operation across a full shift and the life of your mine, whether the site is already running or greenfield. Already chosen an electric truck? MOVE takes its spec and optimises the charging strategy instead.

The algorithms behind MOVE were developed through the MOVE research program, a $2.1M+ initiative of the Future Battery Industries CRC led by Adelaide University, in partnership with BHP, IGO, MRIWA and other industry partners.

Optimisation engine

Three decisions, solved together.

MOVE formulates your mine's electrification as a mixed-integer nonlinear program and solves it with proven optimisation solvers. Battery size, charger placement and the shift operation are decided together, because on a real haul cycle they all depend on each other. With a known truck, battery size becomes an input and charge frequency becomes the decision.

  • Optimal onboard battery size. The smallest pack that completes every shift, so you don't over-buy capacity or carry payload-robbing mass. Already own the truck? Fix the size instead.
  • Charger location and power. Where along the route to install, and at what kW, filtered by terrain and site constraints.
  • Operation modelled to life-of-mine. One representative shift, scaled across the mine's life by scenarios you control.
The decision MOVE solves
// decision variables
choose  e_cap, charger_site, p_ch, n_trips
// known electric truck?
given  e_cap  →  choose  charge_freq, p_ch, n_trips
// subject to, on every segment k:
SOCk+1 = SOCk − ek(grade, mass) + chargek
SOCmin ≤ SOCk ≤ e_cap   p_ch ≤ max_pr
SOCstart = SOCend // repeatable shift

Scenario simulation, shift to life-of-mine

Model one representative shift, then extend it across the mine's life under scenarios you control: production ramp, energy prices, fleet growth and more.

Extensive sensitivity analysis

Sweep any parameter for any scenario: energy price, battery cost, mine life, grade. Response curves and tornado charts rank what actually moves the decision.

Bring your own route, or draw one

Upload a haul-profile CSV, or design a simplified haulage route right in the app. Works for existing operations and greenfield mines alike.

Side-by-side technology comparison

CAPEX, OPEX and lifecycle cost for Fast Charging, Battery Swapping and Trolley Assist, all on the same route, truck and shift assumptions, so the comparison is fair.

Full lifecycle cost model

Discounted cash flow over mine life: charger and battery capex, energy cost, battery replacement cycles, inflation and discount rate, all configurable.

AI-generated PDF reports

Export every result, chart and sensitivity study as a polished, AI-written PDF report, ready to hand to stakeholders and investment committees.

The software

See MOVE at work.

From a haul-route sketch to an optimised, exportable techno-economic report, all in the browser.

MOVE simulation results dashboard showing optimal battery size, charger placement, cost breakdown and shift timeline

Results dashboard. Optimal onboard battery size, charger location and power, full cost breakdown, and the state-of-charge and shift timeline for the chosen scenario. For a known truck, the dashboard reports the optimised charge frequency in place of a solved battery size.

MOVE sensitivity tornado chart ranking which assumptions move cost and productivity most

Sensitivity and tornado. Vary any assumption across a range and rank which ones move cost and productivity the most. The longest bar is the biggest driver.

MOVE haul-route designer with elevation profile and charger installation zones

Route designer. Upload a CSV or sketch the haulage route, then mark where each charging technology may be installed.

Technologies

Three paths to zero-emission haulage.

MOVE models every viable strategy on equal footing, so the technology choice is an output, not an assumption.

Fast Charging

High-power DC charging at the shift-change location. The optimiser sizes the battery and charging schedule together for maximum shift productivity.

Live

Battery Swapping

Depleted packs exchanged at dedicated stations, eliminating charge-wait time. Models station CAPEX, spare pack inventory and productivity impact.

Trolley Assist

Overhead catenary on steep ramps powers the motors directly and recharges the battery, removing the hardest energy-demand segments from the sizing problem.

How it works

From route data to decision.

1

Bring or build your route

Upload a haul-profile CSV, or sketch a simplified route in the app, for an existing operation or a greenfield mine.

2

Configure truck, battery & shifts

Retrofit a diesel truck, or enter the spec of an electric truck you already have in mind, set the battery and charger limits, and define the shift structure.

3

Optimise & simulate scenarios

The solver sizes the battery and chargers, or for a known truck chooses the charging strategy, then simulates the operation across the life of the mine under scenarios you control.

4

Compare & export

Review CAPEX, OPEX, lifecycle cost and sensitivity side by side, then export it all as an AI-generated PDF report.
